Tom Dark Joins Edinburgh University Press

Tom Dark joins Edinburgh University Press as Head of Editorial (Books).

Edinburgh University Press has appointed Tom Dark as Head of Editorial (Books). He will lead the editorial team as EUP embarks on a new business plan, focused on building our reputation for developing world-class academic publications that amplify the critical role of the humanities and social sciences in shaping the way we think about and tackle global and local issues.

Tom has been working in academic publishing for over a decade, first in journals and then books. He was previously Publisher at Emerald, and was most recently Senior Commissioning Editor at Manchester University Press, where he commissioned academic books across various formats for their Social Sciences list, as well as looking after numerous trade non-fiction titles. Tom is a University of Edinburgh graduate and has retained strong links with the city.

Tom joins EUP in August, and will also be taking care of the Scottish Studies list while the commissioning editor for that list is on maternity leave.

Nicola Ramsey, Chief Executive, said ‘I am delighted Tom will be joining EUP at this important moment. I am impressed with his excellent understanding of, and commitment to, University Press publishing, and believe he has the vision, creativity and empathy to develop an editorial team focused on excellence in our commissioning and service to our authors.’

Tom Dark said ‘I’m thrilled to be joining EUP in this role. I am excited to work with the excellent editorial team and deliver on EUP’s ambitious plans for the future.’
