The marketing campaign

A warning to authors

We’ve been made aware of scam book club emails inviting authors to pay a fee for spotlight features. Please note: we would never expect authors to pay for promotional opportunities. If you receive a message like this, please delete or disregard and feel free to contact us directly if you’re unsure.

The marketing campaign

The marketing team will be in touch about promoting your book in advance of its scheduled publication. We’ve created a timeline of the marketing campaign so that you know what to expect at each step.

1 month before publication:

Now that your book is available for pre-order, you’ll hear from your marketer with suggestions for promotion:

  • A launch discount code for you to share with your networks
  • Guidance on how you can make social media work for you
  • Digital promotional materials and where to share them
  • Tactics for supporting your book’s marketing campaign

Publication month and beyond:

Once your book has gone to print, we’ll contact your chosen outlets to offer the ebook for review. Find out more about ebook review copies.

Key marketing activity

Sharing good metadata about your book is fundamental to our marketing. When you deliver your typescript we ensure that our key partners in the book trade and library information networks receive full details about the print and ebook formats that will publish. When we include your books in newsletters and email campaigns readers can choose to buy a copy or recommend it to their library.

If you are publishing a textbook or paperback with us, we will be in touch to discuss the project at an early stage.
