Seven books received funding from the CAHSS fund for gold open access publication in our last financial year.

We are pleased to share that seven books received funding from the CAHSS fund for gold open access publication in our last financial year.
The CAHSS fund supports the open access publication of books written or edited by University of Edinburgh staff. Books funded are published by EUP in both print and digital formats, and are freely available in their ebook editions to a global audience on publication.
The funding comes from EUP’s cash reserves and speaks to our mission as a University Press to maximise the influence and impact of research in the humanities and social sciences.
The books funded in 2026 are:
Henry Maine’s Ancient Law as an Expression of Victorian Humanism by Paul J. du Plessis
Rediscovering Greek Institutions edited by Matteo Barbato, Mirko Canevaro and Alberto Esu
The American Presidency in Twenty-First-Century Fiction by Alexandra Lawrie
The Development of Commercial Law in Scotland, Volume 1 edited by Jonathan Hardman, Alisdair MacPherson and Adelyn L. M. Wilson
The Fabric of Hellenism edited by Ewen Bowie and Calum Maciver
David Rizzio at the Scottish Court edited by Emanuela Patti
Scots in Hong Kong and New Zealand by Iain Watson
