We are delighted to announce that Malcolm Petrie’s Politics and the People: Scotland, 1945-1979 has been shortlisted for the Research Book Award at Scotland’s National Book Awards 2023, as announced last night by the Saltire Society.
Politics and the People is a study of the interaction between ideology, electoral politics and the constitution in post-war Scotland. Author Malcolm Petrie says, 'I am delighted that Politics and the People has been shortlisted for the Saltire Society’s Research Book of the Year. It is wonderful to hear that my research into Scotland’s political culture during the twentieth century has drawn the interest of a wider audience.'
Commissioning Editor for Scottish Studies Ersev Ersoy says 'We are proud to have published this impeccably researched new reading of post-war Scottish political history. Covering a critical period between two major electoral events, Malcolm Petrie provides a fascinating look at party politics and ideological shifts in Scotland. We’re thrilled that this thought-provoking book has been shortlisted for Scotland’s National Book Awards.'
Congratulations Malcolm, and good luck at the awards ceremony in November!
