Dr David Sorfa appointed as the new convenor of EUP’s Press Committee

Dr David Sorfa has been appointed as the new convenor of EUP’s Press Committee, which decides which books and journals will be contracted with the publisher.
Dr Sorfa, who is Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh, takes over the role from Professor Alex Thomson, who stood down in September 2022. He is Programme Director of the MSc and PhD in Film Studies and editor-in-chief of the journal Film-Philosophy.
He commented, 'I am delighted to take over from Professor Alex Thomson as the convenor of the Press Committee of Edinburgh University Press. It is a privilege to work with both academic colleagues at the University of Edinburgh and editors at EUP to ensure the continued high quality of the work published by the press. As convenor of the Press Committee, I look forward to engaging with the broad range of exciting and challenging research that Edinburgh University Press brings to the world.'
The committee, comprised of Edinburgh academic staff, plays an essential role in the running of the press, with its members reviewing and formally approving proposals for all new books, journals and series.
