CAHSS Gold Open Access 2026
Seven books received funding from the CAHSS fund for gold open access publication in our last financial year.
Our commissioning editor, Helena Heald, has been named as the IPG’s Young Independent Publisher, 2025.

We’re pleased to share the news that Helena Heald, Commissioning Editor for Ancient History and Classical Studies, has been awarded The Ola Gotkowska Young Independent Publisher Award at the IPG awards on 30th April.
Helena progressed within the marketing team before taking on the role of commissioning editor. She’s shown an ability to cross departments and has worked on additional projects to enhance metadata and implement our title management system while commissioning for her list.
The judges said, ‘It’s great to see someone breaking the silos of work in publishing. An editor who understands data and marketing so well is a great asset for EUP.’
Helena said, ‘I am delighted and grateful to receive the The Ola Gotkowska Young Independent Publisher Award this year. I am glad to have found a career that lets me follow my curiosity and passion, and I am so lucky to be supported by some fantastic mentors both within my colleagues at Edinburgh University Press and beyond.’
Gillian Leslie, Deputy Head of Editorial, said ‘I’m delighted that Helena has won IPG’s prestigious The Ola Gotkowska Young Independent Publisher Award. It’s fantastic to see her achievements at EUP recognised within our wider industry. Everyone at EUP is very proud of her.’
