Seven books received funding from the CAHSS fund for gold open access publication in our last financial year.
Carole Hillenbrand retires as Series Editor of The New Edinburgh Islamic Surveys and Edinburgh Studies in Classical Islamic History and Culture.

We would like to share Carole Hillenbrand's retirement as Series Editor of two of Edinburgh University Press’ long-standing series: The New Edinburgh Islamic Surveys and Edinburgh Studies in Classical Islamic History and Culture.
Carole’s association with EUP spans over 40 years, during which she has served as series editor, author and a former member of what was then the Press Committee. Her landmark publication, The Crusades: Islamic Perspectives (1999), remains one of EUP’s best-selling titles.
In 2005 she became the first non-Muslim scholar to be awarded the prestigious King Faisal International Prize for Islamic Studies.
Carole has been a passionate advocate for EUP throughout her career and her influence has been instrumental in establishing our Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies list. Her dedication, vision and wise counsel have shaped the list into what it is today and we are deeply grateful for her contributions.
We are also pleased to announce that Andrew Peacock will become Series Editor for Edinburgh Studies in Classical Islamic History and Culture. We look forward to the continued development of the series under Andrew's guidance.
