CAHSS Gold Open Access 2026
Seven books received funding from the CAHSS fund for gold open access publication in our last financial year.
Cedric Van Dijck's 'highly original monograph' was commended for its contribution to the field of comparative literature.

We're delighted to share that Cedric Van Dijck, author of Modernism, Material Culture and the First World War, has been awarded this year's BCLA First Book Prize.
What the judges had to say:
'Moving away from conventional accounts of modernism and shell shock, this highly original monograph pays attention to printed artefacts from numerous archives to offer new readings of a wide range of war experiences from canonical and less well-known authors from the UK and Europe, as well as writers in colonial contexts.'
