Information

For librarians

We work with academic libraries across the world to ensure that high-quality humanities and social sciences research is accessible, discoverable and sustainable. Whether you are building collections, evaluating usage or supporting open access initiatives, our team can deliver flexible options that meet institutional needs.

How we support libraries

  • Affordable access – as a not-for-profit university press, our mission is to maximise the reach of our scholarship while minimising barriers to access. We work with libraries to provide affordable, sustainable access to high-quality humanities and social sciences research.
  • Consortia partnerships – we collaborate with library consortia worldwide to develop flexible and cost-effective agreements that broaden access while helping institutional budgets go further.
  • Flexible collections – through our platform and distribution partners, we offer both comprehensive and tailored collections aligned with your institution’s teaching and research priorities.
  • Usage insights – our team can provide usage reports and analysis to help you demonstrate impact and inform collection development decisions.
  • Deep Archive programme – in partnership with Paradigm, we are bringing out-of-print titles back into circulation, giving libraries renewed access to hundreds of important works for today’s scholars. Explore the EUP Out of Print Digitisation project on the Paradigm website.
  • Long-term preservation – all EUP journal content is preserved through CLOCKSS, ensuring permanent access and safeguarding your investment.
  • Easy ordering for libraries – access our ebooks through trusted aggregators and platforms and subscribe to journals via our journals website. High-quality print editions of our books are available through your usual library supplier.

Books that foster discovery and learning

We publish 330 new books each year across the humanities and social sciences. Our books open new perspectives, foreground under-represented voices and support the next generation of researchers. Each title undergoes rigorous peer review and editorial development to maximise its impact in research and teaching.

Journals that drive research and impact

We publish 60 peer-reviewed journals across the humanities and social sciences, including Film, Media & Cultural Studies, Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies, Law and Literary Studies. With global authorship and readership, our titles provide trusted platforms for rigurous scholarship and international dialogue.

Open access

At EUP, open access (OA) plays an essential role in our mission to connect people and ideas, as it allows readers all over the world to access the scholarship we publish. We support diamond, gold, transformative and green OA routes, ensuring authors and libraries have options that fit funder mandates and global needs.

Accessible books

All books published on or following 28 June 2025 are available as an accessible ePub file in compliance with the European Accessibility Act. We offer accessible formats to readers with a print disability through RNIB Bookshare.
