Anita Traninger

Anita Traninger is Full Professor of Romance Literatures at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. Her research focuses on the shape of knowledge, predominantly in the early modern period, and specifically with a view to European literatures in a global context. She has published widely on the history and theory of rhetoric as well as the history of reading, books and media. In 2023, she was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, the most prestigious research award in Germany, and was elected a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the Humanities.
